- Must be at least 18 to obtain intrastate CDL
- Must be 21 to obtain a standard CDL
- Pass vision test
- Pass colorblindness test
Documents
- Valid department of transportation medical examiner’s certificate
- Hold a valid Virginia driver’s license
- Applicants for a hazardous materials endorsement must be fingerprinted for a background check
