Basics

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be at least 21 to travel out of state
  • Must be at least 21 to transport hazardous materials and passengers
  • Must meet the qualifications for a valid Oregon class driver’s license
  • Pass the physical exam
  • Pass the vision exam
  • Pass the color blindness test
  • Pass CDL written knowledge test

Documents

  • Provide your out of state driver’s license or I.D card (if you are not currently licensed in the state of OR)
  • Provide original documented proof of U.S legal presence
  • Provide original documented proof of your full legal name
  • Provide proof of your current Oregon residency that shows your name and address
  • Social Security number
  • Provide your current Medical Examiner’s Certificate and completed Medical Examination Report
  • Certify that your privilege to drive any motor vehicle is not currently suspended, revoked, canceled, or disqualified anywhere
  • Certify that you currently hold no more than one driver’s license
  • Self-certify that you intend to drive a CMV in either intrastate commerce or interstate commerce

  • CLP $23.50
  • CDL Skill test $70
  • CDL with Oregon license $75.50
  • CDL without an Oregon driver’s license $135.50
  • CDL Skill test to remove an Air Brakes Restriction $56
